A Campus Garden

A tremendous need exists for your people to have greater insight into food production and to understand how mismanagement and depletion of natural resources can impact our food supply.  This project was deveoped to provide a garden on the premises of Section Highw School to teach students about food productiona dn the food supply while giving students hands-on experiences in producing some of their food.  A companion objective will be the teaching of soil conservation and environmental protection

Project Animals

This project will effect positive change in the community through humane education; raise awareness of animal issues i.e overpopulation); promote responsible pet ownership and enhance health and well-being of animals; provide basic medical care and temporary shelter for homeless animals; adoption into well screened caring homes.  We accelerate humane education for grade k-6 in all Jackson County schools, promote awareness through community outreach program and events, Improve physical space for temporary housing of animals and medical care; Improve physical space for temporay houseing.

Repair of Homes for the Elderly and Homebound

Allows elderly and disabled persons to live in a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment in their own homes.  Many of the elderly and disabled citizens are living in homes that are over 50 years old.  They may need access by a wheelchair ramp, some have roofs tat are leaking, porches that are sagging, floors rotting and windows that are loose.  They do not have the income to repair these problems but do not want to leave their home. This project provides the elderly and disable persons of Jackson county the opportunity to live safely and independently.

Body Recall Training

Body recall puts forth a wellness program of activities to benefit all people, with a higher quality of life through responsible movement that is pain-free and possible.  Teacher training on levels from pre-natal through adult including persons in a recuperative phase.  Through this program we will have ten teachers trained in the TARCOG and NARCOG areas.  These teachers will be able to charge the Senior Centers for their services.  Enabling ten individuals of any age to be employed.  This project addresses the lack of Employment for Seniors, Lack of Pain-Free exerc

CWP 2006

The Tennessee Basin Clean Water Partnership conducts stakeholder public outreach concerning watershed water quality needs based on Alabama’s Section 303d) list;  Coordinate efforts to identify sources of existing data including water quality, biology, and habitat, as available for review, ongoing monitoring efforts, and future monitoring data needs; Promote the sharing of data with stakeholders and with ADEM through the Steering Committee, and report data findings as appropriate; Work with Steering Committee to solicit, locate, promote recommend corrective action projects

Legacy Septic Tanks

North Alabama has more identified water quality impacted sections that nay other area in the state.  Failing on’site sewage treatment systems fo the homes and businesses in thiese rural areas are common.  Systems are not maintained because homeowners don’t know the location of their septic tank system; don’t want their yards dug up every three to five years; don’t realize the value of risers, filters and pumping their systems; don’t realize the environmental and health hazards related to failing systems.  This p

Poultry Energy - Cooking Oil ADECA

This project recycles a waste product, cooking oil from restaurants, as a fuel.  The cooking oil will deliver 30 percent more BTUs per hour than propane.  Sepcialized furnaces will be used to demonstrate this fuel as an efficient and effective method of heating.  We will contract with a mimimum of two poultry famers to demonstrate this process.

Educate local government officials and homebuilders on construction BMPs.

Onsite Sewage Education

Educate rural home and business owners of the environmental and health reasons to maintain onsite septic tank - field line systems.

English Classes for Hispanic Neighbors
