Linking Horticultrue to Agricultural

The agri-science students at Geraldine High School exhibit deficiency in knowing how and preparing for and following through their pursuit of postsecondary education for career preparation.  This projects offers a comprehensive instructional program in horticulture that features exploration of career opportunities in the field as well as a specialized course that provides students background for such careers as landscape design, greenhouse management and others.  We will provide an internship in greenhouse management for  students, we will link the project to an area communit

Reading a Campus Forestry Plot Project

A live text book is needed whereby students may see and touch objects of their environmental study, enhance their respect and appreciation for the environment. promote the acquisition of knowledge and skills related to applying the recommended forestry practices.  This project will develop a four-acre plot located on the Crossville High School campus into an outdoor forestry learning laboratory for use by the teachers and 1,540 students.

Body Recall Training

Body recall puts forth a wellness program of activities to benefit all people, with a higher quality of life through responsible movement that is pain-free and possible.  Teacher training on levels from pre-natal through adult including persons in a recuperative phase.  Through this program we will have ten teachers trained in the TARCOG and NARCOG areas.  These teachers will be able to charge the Senior Centers for their services.  Enabling ten individuals of any age to be employed.  This project addresses the lack of Employment for Seniors, Lack of Pain-Free exerc

SMLG 2006 Environmental Education

This project will encompass 2006 grants from organizations and foundations that agree and want to work with SM-LG to accomplish the watershed’s objectives. Our objectives are to use an itinerant resource teacher to handle lessons with students on natural resource conservation and upgrading water quality, and to supplement classroom materials on conservation and pollution.
 

CWP 2006

The Tennessee Basin Clean Water Partnership conducts stakeholder public outreach concerning watershed water quality needs based on Alabama’s Section 303d) list;  Coordinate efforts to identify sources of existing data including water quality, biology, and habitat, as available for review, ongoing monitoring efforts, and future monitoring data needs; Promote the sharing of data with stakeholders and with ADEM through the Steering Committee, and report data findings as appropriate; Work with Steering Committee to solicit, locate, promote recommend corrective action projects

Poultry Energy - Cooking Oil ADECA

This project recycles a waste product, cooking oil from restaurants, as a fuel.  The cooking oil will deliver 30 percent more BTUs per hour than propane.  Sepcialized furnaces will be used to demonstrate this fuel as an efficient and effective method of heating.  We will contract with a mimimum of two poultry famers to demonstrate this process.
